Textures and specifications

  • Vented panels

Openings in the panels let air enter the attic beneath the roof overhang. We check the intake along with the roof vents.

  • Non-vented panels

Solid panels close the overhang in areas that do not need air intake.

  • Cedarmill

A wood grain texture. Compare it with your siding and trim samples.

  • Smooth

A smooth face without wood grain.

  • Panel widths

Panels come in 12, 16, 24 and 48 inch widths. We measure the overhang and confirm sizes for your selected panel.

  • Length and thickness

Panels come in 8 and 12 foot lengths. They are 1/4 inch thick.

  • Ventilation area

Vented panels provide 5 square inches of net free ventilation per linear foot. This measures the open area available for airflow. The amount your home needs depends on the attic and its roof vents.

  • Fire performance

Hardie® Soffit panels are rated noncombustible under ASTM E136 and under ASTM E84. These results describe the panels. A fire rating for the whole structure depends on its materials and construction.
