A Dec-Tec waterproof membrane deck starts with the right base.

Dec-Tec is a PVC membrane with a printed pattern and textured surface. It is made for decks people walk on, including decks above living space. Skyline Building Systems Inc. makes Dec-Tec.

The membrane is glued to exterior plywood or concrete. We heat weld the overlapping sheets and the connections to PVC coated edge metal and drains. We inspect the base, slope and drainage before recommending the work your deck needs.

What Homeowners Say About Us

Questions and answers

Dec-Tec decking questions homeowners ask.

Still have a question? Call (201) 379-9928 or send us a message.

What is Dec-Tec vinyl membrane decking?

It is a PVC sheet that serves as waterproofing and a walking surface. We glue it to exterior plywood or concrete and heat weld the seams. It is used on balconies and roof decks.

Can a waterproof membrane deck go over existing deck boards?

No. Dec-Tec goes over exterior plywood or concrete. It cannot go over deck boards, OSB, treated plywood or an existing membrane. We inspect what is underneath before recommending replacement.

Does Dec-Tec decking get hot in the sun?

It can get hot in direct sun. Your project consultant brings samples and helps you compare Classic and CoolStep for your deck.

Is Dec-Tec slippery when wet?

It can be. Dec-Tec cautions that its surface can be slippery when wet, frosted or covered in snow. Keep it clean and follow the manufacturer's care guidance.

Can a leaking Dec-Tec deck be repaired?

It depends on the deck's condition and where the water is getting in. We check the deck, provide a repair estimate if a repair is needed, and then schedule the service.

How do I maintain Dec-Tec decking?

Keep drains and outlets clear. Protect the membrane under furniture legs. Use a plastic shovel for snow and work along the seams. Follow Dec-Tec's care guide for cleaning and snow removal.
